Vermont Maple Syrup Supplier Still Finding Value in Food Export Programs

For the past twenty years, Brattleboro, Vermont-based Bascom Maple Farms, Inc. has participated in Food Export-Northeast’s Market Access Program funded Branded Program to expand brand awareness for their maple syrup brands. In 2023, Bascom Maple Farms participated in the program to promote its products in Australia and the United Arab Emirates. The maple syrup supplier used its allocated program funding to attend Gulfoods and Fine Food Australia last year.

In March of 2024, Bascom reported gaining $250,000 in product sales to Australia and the United Arab Emirates as a result of exhibiting at the two shows, which was cost-reimbursed through their Branded Program participation. The supplier projects to complete another $125,000 in sales over the next twelve months with their 7 new foreign buyer contacts and 7 newly established distributorships.

The company’s export markets continued to grow and expand in 2024 when the supplier participated in the Branded Program to grow brand awareness in Australia and the United Arab Emirates. The company used its allocated program funding to ship product samples to prospective buyers and defer the costs associated with exhibiting at international trade shows. Branded Program participation helped Bascom gain $100,000 in sales to Australia and $300,000 to the United Arab Emirates. The supplier also gained 5 new foreign buyer contacts and projects sales of over $470,000 to these markets over the next twelve months.
